Alberta announces largest jobs hiring and training program in province’s history

The government has unveiled the Alberta Jobs Now program, an initiative that will help businesses of all sizes hire up to 20 unemployed or underemployed (currently working 30 or fewer hours) Albertans for new or vacant positions. These grants cover 25% of an employee’s salary or training costs for a 52-week period up to a maximum of $25,000 per employee. Employers who hire persons with disabilities will receive a grant 1.5 times higher.  

The Alberta Jobs Now program application opens May 20, 2021 with employers having until August 31, 2021 to apply, with a second intake window scheduled for the fall.
