Alberta delays release of its EPR regulations

July 12, 2022

The Alberta government has announced that while it remains committed to implementing extended producer responsibility (EPR) systems for residential recycling and hazardous and special products, it has delayed the release of its regulations until Fall 2022. This legislation see the shifting of responsibility for establishing and funding of a collection and recycling system for Alberta residents. Once an EPR regulation comes into force, the industry will have 28 months to fully transition the system from its current state. RCC will host information sessions once the regulations are released.
