Alberta legislation to limit municipal health orders
March 15, 2022Alberta’s government has introduced legislation to limit the ability of municipalities to enact masking and proof of vaccination bylaws that are contrary to provincial public health policy. Under the new legislation, any proposed municipal bylaw in this area would first have to be approved by Alberta’s Minister of Municipal Affairs.
RCC supports this legislation as a way of providing members with greater consistency in future situations where mandatory masking or proof of vaccination requirements may need to be reintroduced.
