Alberta relaxes retail capacity restrictions to 25% effective immediately

March 8, 2021

The Alberta government has announced that conditions are now right to proceed with completing step 2 of the province’s Path Forward plan, that includes increasing retail capacity to 25% across the province.

Effective immediately, Alberta retail stores may increase their customer capacity from 15% of fire code occupancy (not including staff) to 25%.  Curbside pick-up, delivery and online services are encouraged, and retailers must continue to maintain their strict commitment to safety protocols.

New guidelines were also announced related to hotels, community halls, performance groups and youth sports, performance, and recreation. For more information, contact John Graham, Director of Government Relations (Prairie Region), at jgraham@retailcouncil.org
