Free face covering distribution a huge success in Alberta

The first phase of Alberta’s distribution of free non-medical masks has resulted in more than 14 million masks handed out free through Tim Hortons and other drive-thrus across the province. An additional 20 million masks will be distributed in July via drive-thrus and other partners, as well directly to higher risk organizations. Alberta is the only province to make free non-medical masks so broadly available. Face covering use is not mandatory in Alberta, however the province encourages their use as an option for situations where maintaining a distance of two metres is not possible.
