BC opens applications for patios with temporary liquor licenses to become permanent

June 17, 2021

Restaurant and food service patios that were temporarily licensed during the pandemic under BC’s Temporary Extended Service Area (TESA) program can now apply to make these patios permanent (contingent on compliance with local bylaws and requirements) through the Liquor and Cannabis Licensing Portal.

Businesses are also able to apply to create new TESA’s until October 31, 2021. Existing TESA patios are authorized until June 1, 2022, contingent on any concerns raised by local governments and Indigenous Nations, who have until July 30, 2021 to raise concerns.
