Impending Deadline: City of Vancouver Energy Use Reports Due June 1

March 12, 2024

By June 1, 2024, Vancouver’s AnnualGreenhouse Gas and Energy Limits By-law requires businesses managing properties over 100,000 sq ft to report energy and GHG data or face penalties, expanding to properties over 50,000 sq ft in 2025. By 2026, these companies must also meet specific GHG intensity limits, potentially necessitating HVAC upgrades. The City provides a low cost “retrofit concierge service” to assist commercial property owners, including RCC members, in meeting these new standards. This includes online tools and offline coaching for cost-effective HVAC upgrade planning and implementation.

For details on attending presentations on GHG filing or on accessing the retrofit program, contact Greg Wilson (gwilson@retailcouncil.org) or Harrison Brook (hbrook@retailcouncil.org). Read the by-law here.
