Manitoba makes small amendments to minimum wage subsidy program

February 14, 2023

The Manitoba government has made modest updates to the Small Business Minimum Wage Adjustment Program online application to allow businesses to set customized pay periods when claiming eligible employee wage subsidies.

The online application now allows applicants to identify the unique start date and end date of the pay period used by their business. Supporting documentation such as pay stubs or pay advice is still required for each employee, up to 20 employees. Previously, businesses were required to use a standard pre-set two-week pay period. Overall, the program eligibility has excluded most Manitoba businesses, with the application process considered disappointingly complex.
