Retail capacity reduced to 10% in Manitoba

May 11, 2021

To relieve stress on the healthcare system, Manitoba began strict new public health orders on Sunday May 9, 2021 that requires restaurants, bars, personal services, gyms, fitness centres to close, and that lowers retail capacity to 10% of fire code occupancy, to a maximum of 100 people for larger footprint stores. Schools K to 12 will also move on Wednesday to online learning until at least May 30, 2021.

Curbside pick-up and delivery services are encouraged, and retailers must continue to maintain their strict commitment to safety protocols.

RCC is pleased that the province supported the science of allowing retail stores to remain open, in contrast to the wide closures announced for other sectors.

Changes to the orders will be in effect until Sunday, May 30, 2021.
