RCC advocates on forced labour

RCC met with Senator Julie Miville-Dechêne on April 21, 2022 to discuss her bill on forced labour reporting. In the context of impending federal legislation in the area, RCC indicated its support for the approach outlined in Bill S-211, and also reiterated the need for key amendments to facilitate retail compliance. Crucial issues for retailers include exemptions for independent retailers, safeguards for competitively sensitive information, and an adequate coming-into-force period.
