New Brunswick reopening guidelines and operational template

May 8, 2020

With no new cases of COVID-19 reported, NB has now transitioned to Phase 2 of its recovery plan which means retail can reopen immediately if stores can meet all the guidelines. While businesses do not need to be inspected before re-opening, they must prepare an operational plan (see page 17 on how to create one)  that can be provided to officials, if requested. Face masks will be required to be worn in public if physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Retail reopening guidelines posted

New Brunswick has released its guidance document for retail and business reopenings entitled: Embracing the New Normal.  Some of the key sections of interest for retailers include:

  • Page 9: guidelines for safe cleaning / guidelines for passive screening process if 2 metres of physical distancing is possible;
  • Page 11: guidelines for active screening process if 2 metres of physical distancing is not possible;
  • Page 14: requirements for crossing the border;
  • Page 16: operational plan template  (Word version of the operation plan template can be found here
