Government consultation on waste reduction strategy

August 22, 2023

The Nova Scotia government has launched a public consultation on waste reduction. Read the press release. The government’s goal is to reduce the province’s annual solid waste – currently at 400kg per person annually – to 300kg per person annually by 2030. The consultation is general in nature and will end on September 29, 2023. Any proposals that stem from this engagement will still be subject to stakeholder consultation before any action is taken. RCC remains in continual contact with the NS Department of Environment on specific environmental initiatives that relate to RCC members and thus, will not be responding to this consultation.
