Ontario announced new legislation that will support small retailers as they continue to battle the impact of COVID-19 on their businesses.
Some of the key programs include:
- Small businesses with fewer than 10 employees to get $1000 grant for PPE
- The Digital Main Street program continues, with $2,500 for small businesses to get online and sell goods
- “One window” access to information which will make it easier for retailers and other businesses to find information on new grants, business requirements, etc.
- Restaurants can now permanently sell alcohol as a part of takeout orders
Additionally, the province indicated RCC’s proposal to allow retailers to deliver during off-peak hours, with no municipal noise by-law restrictions, will be tabled in front of the legislature.
