Sask Employment Standards under review

September 19, 2023

The Saskatchewan government has opened consultations on its employment standards provisions in Part II of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, and RCC is currently working with members to develop our submission.

The goal of Saskatchewan’s review is to identify the concerns of employers and employees, any redundant requirements or unnecessary red tape, and any required updates. The province has developed a Discussion Document to provide background information and describe some of the key areas for consideration, and we are hopeful impacted members will reach out to RCC for their thoughts on the act.

Currently, issues like how a workday is defined (currently a rolling 24-hour clock versus resetting at midnight), Right to Disconnect policies, and paid sick leave have attracted member feedback.
