Saskatchewan Builders’ Lien Regulations published

September 15, 2020

The Government of Saskatchewan released regulations of its Builders’ Lien (Prompt Payment) Amendment Act, that is expected to come into effect on April 1, 2021. The regulation requires that owners pay contractors within 28 days of receiving a “proper invoice”, that invoice disputes be communicated in writing (notice of non-payment) and provide for an “adjudication” process currently being developed. Saskatchewan law firm McKercher LLP is one of several companies that have provided analysis on the regulations.
