Government of Quebec threatens to shut down retailers who do not enforce social distancing

July 7, 2020

Social distancing is required to keep workers and consumers safe. As the government, merchants, and the public have been eager to reopen and get back to “a new normal”, social distancing protocols are not always being diligently practiced.

To emphasize how critical it is that everyone continues to carefully respect physical distancing best practices in Quebec, the Government of Quebec issued a warning today that those who do not follow the rules risk being shut down by public authorities.

Since the guidance documents prepared by CNESST (Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail) leave some room for interpretation of the regulations, CCCD | RCC will be working closely with the Government of Quebec to support retailers and provide them with the tools and education both their staff and their consumers need in order to responsibly follow the protection measures.
