RCC advocates on BC plans to relax and remove COVID-19 guidance provisions

Seven different parts of the BC government have contacted RCC with respect to the relaxation and removal of guidance and orders under the BC Restart Plan.  RCC has asked government for more clarity, where possible, on when some COVID-19-related measures will end: occupancy limits, requirements for plexiglass and other barriers, restrictions on fitting rooms, COVID-19 workplace safety plans, directional arrows on floors, provision of hand sanitizer to customers, along with many other hygiene and physical distancing requirements. We have also asked for more clarity as the mask requirement is lifted.

RCC is encouraging government to maintain the positive impacts on delivery hours of emergency restrictions impacting municipal road-use and noise bylaws while stretched supply chains return to a more ‘normal’ situation.  RCC advocates that all guidance suggestion caution surrounding the return of recyclables and the use of reusable bags, cups and containers be removed.  Similarly, RCC is advocating that all guidance relating to transmission by touch be removed as a recognition that evidence is that a significant majority of COVID-19 transmission is through airborne droplets.
