RCC makes Senate committee appearance on responsible sourcing

March 22, 2022

On Monday, March 21, 2022, RCC appeared before the Senate Committee on Human Rights to offer recommendations on Bill S-211 – private members legislation that would require medium and large businesses to publicly report on how they are preventing the use of forced labour and child labour in their supply chains. RCC stressed retailers’ shared commitment to responsible sourcing and advocated on behalf of its members to ensure policies are both meaningful and achievable.

The federal government has also released a report on potential additional government actions in this area. RCC is currently drafting comments on the report and will continue to advocate on behalf of our members.
