Retail Council of Canada and Moneris Data Services team up to provide the retail industry with Canadian credit and debit card spending information

July 26, 2022

Real-time consumer spending information will help the retail industry more easily identify consumer spending behaviour trends at the national and provincial level

TORONTO –July 26, 2022

Today’s launch of Retail Council of Canada’s (RCC) RETAIL PULSE DASHBOARD, the essential one-stop resource for retail metrics, is an important milestone for the retail industry in Canada.

With the goal of making it easier and quicker for retailers to find the key data points that help inform decision-making, Retail Council of Canada has worked closely with Moneris Data Services to provide critical real-time data on Canadian consumer credit and debit card spending. Retailers will now be able to gain a more robust perspective on both where consumer are spending their dollars and on what, based on the billions of transactions Moneris processes across all types of merchants and geographic areas within Canada.

RCC’s RETAIL PULSE DASHBOARD collects and consolidates data from various sources, including Statistics Canada, and Moneris, to allow users to find the core retail data from across multiple retail sectors, regions, and timeframes.  Overview information on the retail industry is available to everyone. Retail Council of Canada members also have access to much richer data, enhanced filtering, comparisons, and customization.

“Leveraging the power of data has always been important to retailers. But today, with so many sources of information, and the need to plan and optimize in real-time, having a single resource to consult for overall trend means retailers can now spend less time searching for data and have more time to consider and develop compelling competitive strategies,” said Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO, Retail Council of Canada.  “Moneris’ data will provide rich insights about consumers’ actual buying behaviours, which, at the end of the day is the driver behind all retail efforts.”

“We’re excited to play an important role in providing critical information on consumer spending,” said Sanjeev Chib, Managing Director of Spendscape, Moneris’ data solutions subsidiary. “Our industry-leading data and insights from point-of-sale activity combined with the other key data points Retail Council of Canada has thoughtfully curated, will provide a coast-to-coast perspective on how Canadian retail sales are trending.”

The RETAIL PULSE DASHBOARD is hosted on the Retail Council of Canada website.
