Alberta COVID restrictions unlikely to change substantially

November 9, 2021

While new active COVID cases have declined significantly in recent weeks, Alberta’s Premier has signaled that the province will be in no rush to ease restrictions this time around, and intends to maintain a cautious approach when considering any changes to the current health guidance presently in place.

RCC has been advocating for an increase to the current 33% of fire code capacity, reinforcing that these are the strictest limits in Canada, retail remains low-risk, and the desire to avoid customer line-ups throughout the holiday season. Until a commitment is made to raise capacity limits, and ease other restrictions, RCC will continue to engage directly and frequently with key policy makers.
