Alberta updates bereavement leave legislation
May 17, 2022The Government of Alberta has updated its bereavement leave legislation in an attempt to address criticism of the current legislation, that allowed leave for stillbirths and miscarriages, but did not specifically address abortions.
Alberta’s Labour and Immigration Minister introduced an amendment last week that will allow bereavement leave for any pregnancy that doesn’t end in a live birth, regardless of the reason or timing for the end of the pregnancy.
