The Alberta government has announced it is making available two million free COVID-19 rapid testing kits to employers across the province.
To successfully apply to the rapid testing program, employers must submit a screening program plan that outlines their protocols for administering the tests, the use of personal protective equipment, and processes for reporting results and managing individuals who screen positive.
While a health-care provider is required to oversee the organization’s screening program, the tests can be administered by a trained layperson and self-administration is permissible under certain conditions.
