Province decides against tabling amendments to Human Rights Act
December 6, 2022In what Premier Danielle Smith initially described as standing up for the unvaccinated, the Alberta government has announced now they do not plan to table a bill that would have amended the Alberta Human Rights Act to make it unlawful to limit activities based on vaccination status.
However, there are reports that she has directed her ministers and other officials to contact organizations that impose access based on vaccination status or masking rules. Currently, 91% of Albertans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
