B.C. updates PST guide for cannabis products

December 12, 2022

While there is no change in how PST applies to medical and non-medical cannabis products and cannabis accessories, the province has updated its PST webpage to clarify that;

  • The sale of cannabis seedlings, clones, and plantlets for customers to grow cannabis for resale are considered retail sales;
  • Cannabis wholesalers who make retail sales must register to collect and remit PST regardless of if they are licensed or designated as a wholesaler;
  • Cannabis seedlings to not include cannabis seeds, which are exempt from PST, and;
  • Sellers of cannabis products do not qualify as small sellers.
