BC authorizes Public Health officers to close workplaces with COVID-19 cases

April 13, 2021

On April 8, 2021, BC’s Provincial Health Officer enacted a new Provincial Health Order allowing public health officials to order a workplace closed. Read details on the order.

The order allows public health officials or WorkSafeBC inspectors to close a workplace with three or more cases where transmission has been proven to have occurred in the workplace, for a minimum of 10 days. The government says it will provide an exception to distribution hubs of necessary goods such as food and medicine. Dr. Henry also stated that protecting the supply of essential goods, such as food and drugs was paramount.
