BC Temporary Foreign Workers registration comes into effect

December 17, 2020

Effective December 15, 2020, BC requires that employers hold a Certificate of Registration before they can recruit a foreign national for employment. The registration requirement applies to employers if they: (a) require a Labour Market Impact Assessment from the federal government; or, (b) hire through the federal Home Child-Care Provider or Home Support Worker Pilot Programs. There is no fee to obtain a Certificate of Registration. The purpose of the registry is to protect foreign workers while working in BC under the Temporary Foreign Worker Protection Act.
