Common retail COVID-19 inspection issues – WorkSafeBC

April 1, 2021

WorkSafeBC (WSBC) told RCC this week that WSBC did 5,466 inspections of retail stores and 493 inspections of distribution centres during the pandemic. From those inspections, WSBC has written 470 workplace safety orders to stores and 94 orders to warehouses. Disappointingly, a year into the pandemic, among the most common themes in WSBC orders are the lack of a (required) COVID-19 Workplace Safety Plan, no occupancy limits, and, no daily health checks of employees entering the stores.

RCC reminds retailers of the importance to adhere to COVID-19 regulations – not only for the health and safety of our communities – but also to ensure you are compliant with your legal obligations.
