B.C. Permanent Paid Sick Leave in Effect as of January 1, 2022

Clarification: Part-time and casual employees are also entitled to five paid sick days annually. They are paid for each sick day at their normal rate of pay (for a day) pursuant to the Employment Standards Act.”
As of January 1, 2022, all B.C. workers covered under the Employment Standards Act will be eligible for up to five employer-paid sick days, including part-time, casual, and temporary workers. Employees are eligible for the leave once they have been with their employer for a minimum of 90 calendar days.
This entitlement is in addition to the 3 days of unpaid sick leave currently provided by the Employment Standards Act.
