Permanent employer-paid sick leave of five days coming January 1, 2022

As of January 1, 2022, all B.C. workers covered under the Employment Standards Act will be eligible for up to five employer-paid sick days, including part-time, casual, and temporary workers. Employees are eligible for the leave once they have been with their employer for a minimum of 90 calendar days.  

This entitlement is in addition to the 3 days of unpaid sick leave currently provided by the Employment Standards Act.

RCC notes that this announcement was long expected and five days is on the lower end of the expected range.
