RCC Advocates for Retail Sector in BC Labour Code 5 Year Review

March 26, 2024

RCC has submitted a letter to the Labour Relations Code Review Panel, offering a perspective on behalf of the retail industry. Highlighting the sector’s significance with over 323,000 jobs and $73 billion in sales, RCC focused on pivotal issues like card-check certification for small workplaces and the use of replacement workers in management. The letter proposes increasing card certification thresholds or reinstating secret ballots in smaller businesses, aiming to harmonize fair labor practices with retail’s operational needs, informed by COVID-19 experiences.
