Restrictions on vaping products strengthened in BC; availability of flavoured vapour products limited

July 21, 2020

UPDATE DEC 17, 2020: The PST rate of 20% for vapour products is already in effect for products sold in B.C., the latest bulletin clarifies that this rate also applies to vapour products being brought or sent into B.C. or received in B.C. More information here.

BC has added to existing vapour product control measures announced last fall by restricting the availability of flavoured vapour products, advertising, the content and volumes of E-substances. It has also required that new products follow new federal and provincial packaging and labelling specifications. Retailers can sell products that contain nicotine, nicotine salts or cannabis, but must not sell products that combine both non-therapeutic nicotine and cannabis. As of September 15, 2020, flavoured E-substance products will only be available in adult-access stores. More information here.
