COVID-19 claims: Reminder from WCB-Nova Scotia

April 12, 2022

During the COVID-19 pandemic, workers compensation claims related to COVID-19 were spread over the general collective liability of the entire employer base. COVID-19 claims did not impact an employer’s individual experience rating. With the lifting of the province’s state of emergency on March 21, 2022, these claims are now handled in the same manner as other work-related injuries. The WCB-Nova Scotia has not been inundated with COVID-19 claims. However, the WCB is encouraging employers to review health and safety plans, specifically in relation to the potential for COVID-19 to impact the workforce.
