Quebec makes masks mandatory in indoor public spaces

July 13, 2020

Masks or face coverings will be mandatory in all indoor public spaces across Quebec beginning Saturday, July 18, 2020. Businesses will be particularly affected by this announcement since businesses that do not comply risk fines of between $400 to $6,000. The new directive makes Québec the first provincial jurisdiction in Canada to make wearing a mask mandatory.

The government also intends to tighten enforcement of other measures such as social distancing, hand washing, etc.
