WorkSafeBC releases new resources for employers

August 22, 2022

WorkSafeBC has posted the presentation on their 2023 rate changes on their website (WorkSafeBC login required). The information will be useful for those employers seeking to understand significant rate increases (e.g., supermarkets). They have also posted new guides and information related to the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries:

  • Musculoskeletal Injury (MSI) Risk Assessment Worksheet – This worksheet helps employers assess the risk of MSIs and should be used alongside our updated guide (linked above). It has six sections that help employers evaluate various risk factors. This worksheet is one of many tools employers can use to assess the risk of MSIs.
  • Pushing and pulling – Pushing and pulling are common causes of musculoskeletal injuries. This resource provides information to help employers identify, assess, and control the risks to workers when pushing up or down, pushing from side to side, or pulling down.
  • Contact stress – Contact stress is a common but often unnoticed risk factor for musculoskeletal injuries. This resource provides information to help employers identify, assess, and control the risks to workers of contact stress.
  • Cold temperature – Exposure to cold can increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. This resource provides information to help employers identify, assess, and control the risks to workers who are exposed to cold temperatures.

Finally, three new videos promote a risk management approach for delivery drivers: commercial delivery, last mile delivery, and food delivery.
