Alberta introduces Inflation Relief Act

December 6, 2022

The Alberta government has announced its intention to release a series of affordability measures to support Albertans dealing inflationary pressures through the recently-released Affordability Action Plan. Over the coming weeks, we will announce $2.8 billion in new release measures that will cut costs for families and businesses and free up more money or most adult Albertans.

Features of the plan include a $600 payout for each senior and child in households earning less than $180,000 annually, the re-indexation of social and senior benefits – beginning with a 6% adjustment – the suspension of the provincial tax, as well as fuel tax relief and $200 electricity rebates.
