B.C. to permanently ban second generation anticoagulant rodenticides

November 1, 2022

In 2021, B.C.’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy issued a Ministerial Order to ban the sale and use of second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) except in a very limited set of circumstances. (Use in respect of food production facilities is still permitted under strict conditions.)

Government announced last week that the Ministerial Order will be made permanent through forthcoming amendments to the Integrated Pest Management Regulation. At this time, information is available only on the government’s consultation in advance of the amendment.
