WorkSafeBC proposed amendments to OHS regulation pose complications, unintended consequences

June 8, 2021

WorkSafeBC has opened consultation on proposed amendments to Part 3 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation regarding the reassignment of refused work. The proposed amendment requires an employer to ensure that a worker is notified that another worker has refused to perform the task they are being asked to do.

RCC is concerned that this will cause complications for employers and employees due to the potentially higher rate of employee refusals due to COVID-driven situations. RCC will provide comments to WorkSafeBC to this effect, the consultation closes August 13, 2021.
